- Monsters In The Mist - Pindingshan -

The way is blocked by the huge form of a JS class shuffling through the fog as it
exits the Pindingshan loco depot. All photos on this page taken in January 2006.

Like a mammoth, a QJ class stands sentinel at Pindingshan shed. Sadly, it's has been
relegated to stand-by duties, in case of diesel failure. All photos: © David Hill.

Only the mournful crossing bell gives any warning, as a JS thunders by with a passenger train
paying scant regard to the typical Pindingshan pea-soup conditions.

Another JS class blasts out of the early morning light, and over the level crossings at
Tianzhuang, Pindingshan. January 2006.

A frosty dawn reveals a line-up of JS class locos awaiting their turns of duty. Pindingshan's
smoggy conditions can be used to advantage giving extra "atmosphere" to pictures.

Scavenging for coal at the ash pit.

A timeless scene, but one not normally associated with the twenty-first century. January 2006.

Rolling down to Pindingshan from the northern reaches of the system.
Deflectorless QJ 6650 crosses the bridge at Xiancheng.

JS 8054 cautiously exits the shed road, feeling its way to the shunting yard at Tianzhuang.

JS 8062 glides through the Mine No.7 complex with an afternoon train for Hanzhuangzhan.
